“Don't wake me for the end of the world unless it has very good special effects”

by Roger Zelazny

I've always enjoyed post apocalyptic book. Some might not, because of a reminder of the end of the world. But I think it signifies a new world, that has learned from our mistakes. Though of course the post apocalyptic civilization also has it's flaws (After all what is a story without conflict?) But it is something new, something that could quite possibly be a reality, it represents the future discoveries. Whether they are good or bad. I havn't read so many of these books, but some of my favourites are : The Hunger Games, Uglies, Pretties, Specials and Invitation to the Game. I actually filmed a made-up trailer for Invitaion to the Game for school. Not to toot my own horn, but it was pretty good. It's on youtube if you can find it. The Hunger Games and has to be my favourite. The second one was recently published and was just as good. Usually I am pretty good at predicting books, but The Hunger Games series was full of surprises. I would be happy if you could recomened some books to me.

Happy End of the World !

"You gain strength, courage, and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You must do the thing which you think you cannot do."

by Eleanor Roosevelt

For awhile now, I've been preparing a speech for Drama. It consisted of the difference between a nerd, a geek and a dork. I figured it was a light subject and fun to present. Although the entire point of the project was to help our public speaking, I was determined to entertain my audience. I researched and practice and I was a ready as I was ever going to be. I'm not the type to be scared on stage, I have no problem performing as a character (Note I've never actually been in a huge production) But even so with the small stuff there has been no problem. Though while I was doing my speech I was suddenly dizzy with fright. My legs were shaking and I couldn't remember what I was going to say. It was awful. But it was the first time I've spoken a speech since grade one and my drama teacher likes me so it was alright. I managed to finish relatively smoothly after a deep breath. I think it was a good experience. I guess there's a first time for everything.

“No one realizes how beautiful it is to travel until he comes home and rests his head on his old, familiar pillow.”

by Lin Yutang

It's incredibly true, every time I come home, my bed feels like heaven. It's a comforting cloud even when I've come from a great trip. Today I went to the meeting for international exchanges and I am ecstatic. I believe travel is so important in life and to experience other cultures. I've been to the U.S, Spain, Finland, Sweden, Dominican, Mexico
and a few other places. It was a shame that there were no exchanges to Sweden since I already speak Swedish, but ultimately I want to go to Japan. Unfortunately I don't speak Japanese which could be a problem when having an exchange student here and being over there. I could take a course in Japan for the Japanese language, but that would be over the summer and I wouldn't have the chance to actually go to school there. I do know of a Japanese school and I have an acquaintance who teaches it, but I don't know when I'd have the time. Ultimately my goal will be to go to Japan and I am determined to learn it, so if you can teach me Japanese, I would be so grateful. Otherwise my other course of action would be a trip to France, in which case I would learn french as best I could and the challenge the French exam so I no longer have to take the french classes. Wish me luck !

Bon Voyage
